Re: Estate of Yusuke Kai, Deceased
Have received both of your letters and cheques of November 12, 1946, and Dec. 23, 1946.
In the list of shoe repairing equipment you listed, there were two more items not listed: Singer Shoe sewing machine which was left at my house 328-11th St., New West'r. [Westminster] and a ½ H.P. [horse power] motor which was left at my neighbour's. I would like to know what became of these because I would need it if I go in business.
The shoe repairing machines are still in care of Rev. [Reverend]W. R. McWilliams.
During the war I was forced to evacuate from New Westminster where I was born and was classed as an enemy alien. Now that I am in Toronto I have no wish to go back to where I'm not wanted. I intend to make my home in Toronto but find many difficulties financial and otherwise. I hope to open a shoe repair shop of my own someday and am living for that day. To my thinking the Canadian Government should make some kind of restitution on properties that has been sold and by paying shipping charges as in my case for the machinery and help us get back on your own so that we may live as a true Canadian Citizens.
Yours truly,
"Isamu Kai"
